Frequently Asked Questions
How many passengers can you take on a tour?
All of our tours have a 2 person minimum, 3 person maximum at a time. If you have a larger group, call us so we can coordinate tours to accommodate your schedule. Ask us about our Group Super Saver rates!
What can I expect from a City Tour/Wildlife Tour?
No matter which tour package you choose, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the city and surrounding areas, all from the unique perspective that you can only get from a helicopter! You will typically be flying at elevations between 500 and 1000 feet, depending on the location during the tour. Our pilots provide a narrative during your tour, including historical background and pointing out things to see and do once you are back on the ground!
What time of day are the tours?
Tours are generally available between 10 am and 6 pm, later in the summer. We may be able to accommodate special requests outside of those hours, just mention your preference at time of booking and we will contact you. Tours can be booked any time of year, but for safety purposes, all flights are weather permitting.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and your sense of adventure! You may also want to bring your camera – there will be stunning photo opportunities!
What kind of helicopters do you have?
We operate the Robinson R44 Raven II (IFR equipped). These helicopters are rated tops in safety for their class!
Can we fly with the doors off?
Yes! If you really want to take your experience to the next level, you can request that your pilot remove the doors on the helicopter to allow you an unobstructed view of the sights.
What about safety?
The safety of our passengers and our pilots is our top priority. All of our pilots and equipment are inspected and certified based on FAA standards. All passengers are briefed on safety protocols prior to each flight after the pilot has completed the pre-flight safety check of the helicopter. At all times during fights, passengers must remain in their seats with safety belts fastened. We only fly during “Visual Flight Rules” weather conditions, meaning we don’t fly if it is raining or if it is too windy.
How loud is it?
The noise level is moderate, but all passengers are provided with noise-cancelling headsets so that you can communicate with the pilot and other passengers for the duration of the flight.
Can I take pictures?
Yes! No matter when your flight is, we guarantee you will experience some pretty awesome sights that you will want to capture. (For safety reasons, we do not allow flash photography, as it can be distracting and interfere with the pilot’s vision. You won’t be needing a flash anyway!)
Can the tour depart/return from an alternative location?
There are options for alternative rendezvous locations for flights, including the downtown heliport located at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
For any alternative departure locations, fuel and landing fee surcharges will apply.
Please contact us directly about booking a tour for an alternative departure location.
